ICN Linux Mirror

Stop watching the progress bar crawl.

For developers, sysadmins, and Linux enthusiasts, `sudo apt update` is a daily ritual. But fetching packages from international servers can be slow and unreliable.

We are excited to launch the official ICN Local Linux Mirror. We now host full repositories for Ubuntu and Arch Linux directly inside our Ishwardi datacenter.

⚡ Why Switch to the ICN Mirror?

  • Blazing Fast Speeds: Download packages at LAN speeds (often 100Mbps+), regardless of your internet plan.
  • Save Bandwidth: Keeps your internet bandwidth free for other tasks.
  • Full Synchronization: Our mirrors sync automatically with official upstream servers, ensuring you always get the latest security patches immediately.

🐧 Configuration Guide

We support both HTTP and HTTPS, though we recommend HTTPS for security.

UbuntuFor Ubuntu Users

You need to edit your /etc/apt/sources.list file. You can do this manually, or run the command below to automatically back up your old config and switch to ICN.

Option 1: The One-Liner (Terminal)

sudo cp /etc/apt/sources.list /etc/apt/sources.list.bak && \
sudo sed -i 's|http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/|https://mirror.icn.com.bd/ubuntu/|g' /etc/apt/sources.list && \
sudo sed -i 's|http://bd.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/|https://mirror.icn.com.bd/ubuntu/|g' /etc/apt/sources.list

Option 2: Manual Edit

Replace the URL in your sources list with:

https://mirror.icn.com.bd/ubuntu/

After changing, run: sudo apt update

ArchFor Arch Linux Users

Arch users know the drill. You need to add our server to the top of your mirrorlist.

1. Open your mirrorlist:

sudo nano /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist

2. Add the following line at the very top of the file (before any other server):

Server = https://mirror.icn.com.bd/archlinux/$repo/os/$arch

3. Force a database refresh:

sudo pacman -Syy

Note: These mirrors are maintained by the ICN Engineering Team. If you notice any synchronization issues, please email support@icn.com.bd.

  3. This is really interesting! I’ve been thinking about setting up some mirror servers myself, and the idea of using ICN for this is definitely worth exploring. It reminds me of a discussion I had on Choicer Voicer about optimizing download speeds for large software distributions. This post gives me some concrete ideas to consider.

  4. This is super helpful! I’ve been looking for ways to optimize my server setup, and the details about Linux mirror servers are exactly what I needed. It actually reminds me of some discussions we had on Mimic Party about improving online performance. Thanks for breaking it down so clearly!
